2012 B2B PR and Marketing Planning

As 2011 winds to a close, we are getting a lot of questions about planning for next year. No, it’s not too late! Give some thought to how you are communicating with your audiences. If you often run in to misconceptions about your products or services, can’t seem to gain any ground in a new market, or believe you’ve hit a plateau in your current market — PR is something you should consider in 2012.

Advertising reinforces your brand, marketing focuses on leads, and PR reinforces…

Writing an Effective Op-Ed

In the last two weeks I’ve done a handful of opinion pieces, or Op-Eds, for my clients. In some cases I write them from scratch and in others I just edit their copy to meet editorial guidelines. The great thing about opinion pieces is that they are, in fact, an opinion. So you have some latitude with the tone and don’t need to be a professional writer to submit a good Op-Ed. With that in mind, I’ve put together a few tips you can employ to help ensure a better outcome.

1.  Tone down…

R-E-S-P-E-C-T Find Out What it Means to Me…Before You Begin Your PR or Marketing Program

It’s been awhile since my last post, in part, because I was traveling. I try not to travel too much if I can help it because people can be rude when they are focused on trying to get from A to B. Rudeness is a pet peeve of mine and I have a hard time processing that kind of behavior. That's why it is especially concerning when I see rudeness ruin an otherwise great public relations or marketing plan.

Jumping right into it…What do rude people at the airport have to do with PR and…

Burn the Bridges That Lead to Nowhere

I just started this blog a few weeks ago and largely intend for it to focus on my work, my writing and the recent successes I've had with clients. However, something happened last week that boiled my blood. I’ve had my fill of people and companies getting rewarded for bad behavior. Since it does touch on a very important part of marketing and PR I figured I could both vent and educate at the same time.

I’ve had a business credit card at the same bank for almost 10 years. Earlier this…

Use Tribe Marketing to Target B2C Audiences Within a B2B Strategy

Last night I was talking to a group of entrepreneurs who are all bootstrapping their own start-ups. Largely, their products and services were geared toward the B2B marketplace. Like many low-cost products and services in the B2B space, there were B2C elements in their sales cycle. Namely, the target audience they were going after didn't necessarily need any special skills to buy their product. For example, when a company sells plastics to other businesses the other side needs to have the right…See More
